How To Be a Leader of your team when you are an ENTRY LEVEL - ONE TEAM - COURAGE

Hi everyone, today I will talk about how can lead a team when you are an entry level, probably new graduated. 

I'm young, when I started my career as an engineer, after graduation, it was really difficult to understand how the team, machines, processes were going. I moved from my city to work, I set a new life completely alone to understand if I was able to control my life. So, my first work experience in a factory started alone together with my new life... completely alone!!

I was completely confused. In that case, I was discovering and getting awareness about what was around me.
During this time I started to work with my team. I learnt that if you want respect from your team, you have to give respect to them, in any situation. Respect people is fundamental.
I asked them so many information about systems that I had studied during my course of study. Make questions is so important.

After months my awareness about systems was increasing and I started to have more clear the role of a leader. Obviously, this process is evolving every single day.

I learnt that for becoming a leader you have to be confident, confident in your possibility, even when you are uncertain about something. To be confident is necessary to have a good attitude every single day.

Every single day you have to learn something new and try to become an expert on it.
Make questions if you don't know something and LISTEN !!

Involve your team in your projects for me is a good thing to do.
They need to feel to be part of a project, not just a work, but as a team, and you need someone with you.
In my company always we talk about "ONE TEAM". It is not just a slogan but an idea, a vision.

Be firm. Since you're leading, you're the one that needs to set the rules and boundaries. This part could be really difficult, but with experience and attitude everything you can learn.

Sometimes I use a slogan of Porsche Panamera's advertising, it says " COURAGE CHANGES EVERYTHING", I follow this mantra every single day, because at the end, for doing something important, very important, you need courage.

Thermical pump for fire fighting system - HEATER -LET'S LISTEN A THERMAL ENGINE WHEN STARTED!!

Hi everyone, today I will talk about  an element that composed a pump in a fire fighting system.

The pump goes when pressure, in the system, goes under a level and when a jockey pump is not enough to cover this pressure drop.

A pump can have a diesel engine. It has an important element to maintain it warm, to start easily when there is a fire.

The operation of the first minutes is a source of considerable wear to the inhomogeneity of the internal engine temperatures, incomplete combustion, lubrication difficulties, barely controllable thermal expansion, etc.
Some engines intended for particular use and which must always be "ready" to supply the maximum power instantaneously (emergency generators) are always kept warm through the use of electric resistances immersed in the cooling system in the cylinder block, so as to make always provided the power needed without waiting for the engine to warm and its problematic phase of the thermal head-base expansion and piston rod. This device is the heater.

Principle of Radar Tank Gauging






Radar Tank Gauging Principle Radar tank gauges are "downward-looking" measuring system installed on the tank roof. Operating on the time-of-flight method, they measure the distance from the reference point (process connection) to the product surface. Radar impulses (FMCW principle) are emitted by an antenna, reflected off the product surface and received again by the radar system. The distance to the product surface is proportional to the travel time of the impulse. Due to the nature of the microwave, radar tank gauges need to be equipped with functions to suppress interference echoes (e.g. from edges and weld seams) in the tank so they are not interpreted as level measurement. Radar technology is suitable for measuring a wide range of petroleum products.

PLANNING ENGINEER - KAIZEN PHILOSOPHY

For a planner Engineer is important knowing where jobs come from!! In brief, every day or during the weeks I receive requests of works inside my factory, that come from Production operators, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance (I manage a software that gives me which jobs to do that month, after my initial programming, check list to complete, and in based on requests, I have to decide which jobs to choose ( give them PRIORITIES) and in which days I can put them. It's an hard decision, it is based on:

  1. Safety: You have to understand how works could be done. In brief, which tools and which type of work is involved in, for example work at height, hot work, and decide which risk assessment will be done.

  2. Worker: In this case you have to consider which technicians are able to do the work, how many people to get involve in, how much time they need to do it.

  3. Contracts: You have to have control of contracts to understand which jobs other companies have to realize.

  4. Break in event: Leave time available in case of problems that could arise during the day. Important take your time.

     

    Don't forget, try to improve and learn every single day, Kaizen philosophy!! 

    Planning is a matter that improves every single day with experience and awareness.

MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH - TEDDY ROOSEVELT IN "CITIZENSHIP IN A REPUBLIC"

Hi everyone, today I will talk about a speech to understand  how important is the human value, if you are a leader of a team. We know how difficult it can be to manage activities, I hope this speech can motivate each of you. 

It was from Teddy Roosevelt's speech:

How a pump sounds when it breaks down

Hi eveyone, today I will talk about an issue with a pump of a burner of a boiler.

When pump sucks up fuel oil and this one is not clean, the pump goes under stress and this can cause damages to it, in fact the pump will be replaced. 
So:
  1. Use a good filter before the pump.
  2. Cleaning of what it sucks up is so important to not damage the system.
  3.  If you see oil leaks from the pump, it is damaged.

HOW A FIRE FIGHTING FOAM WORKS

Hi everyone, today I will talk about how a fire fighting foam works.
The system has been projected to estinguish fire in different areas of a plant, for example . Has been realized a system of high expansion foam.
After pumps, usually electrical and thermical, there is a system that mix the fire extinguisher with the water that comes by a tank, for example.
The pipes not contain fire foam liquid and water, but it will mixed when there will be a fire.



The principle of operation of this plant is described with reference to picture indicated above

  1. In presence of a fire the sensors inside the areas, give a signal to open to the electrovalve at the beginning of the single line that goes directly in the area of the sensors.This action produce a drop of pressure in the line.
  2. When the pressure goes under a value, not supported by jockey pump, the two pumps send water to the system.
  3. This water passes into the Premix. This is composed by a tank in steel, in which is contained a membrane where there is the foam liquid. The water that goes into it compress the membrane in order to make get out it

  4. Part of the water pass even through a Venturi Section, in which happen the mix between water and liquid. 
  5. Venturi System. Acqua = water. Liquido schiumogeno = foam forming liquid

  6.  At this point this mix going through pipes to arrive at the pourer to deliver the Foam, like this:
