How to improve the OEE of a production line!

Nowadays, the match among companies is playing not through the best technology used to produce a product but through the EFFICIENCY of the line, thus produce more pieces in less time.

An index that proves the quality of a line is the OEE.

In the following picture, we can see what elements influence the OEE:

From the picture above we see that having an established time to produce, what decrease this time determines losses.
Improving this indicator implies improving efficiency and effectiveness, with a consequent better use of available resources and therefore an optimization of production management and a reduction of associated costs.
It is said: "know your enemy to beat it".
The value of the OEE is fixed:
As an Industrial engineer, our Goals are:
  1. Detection and analysis of data, micro and macro stop for critical machines.
  2. Assessment of the impact on the OEE.
  3. Identification of possible improvements.

This work has to be made in order to determine the main problems affecting the OEE and to identify the improvements to the equipment and the organization, to reduce lost times and thus increase their performance.
The main wastes we can figure out are:
Straight on what you can improve in your field and then use tools to rec them.
After time spent on the production line to rec dates, use it to recognize what could be improved. Focus on the important things that make the most important percent of losses ( PARETO docet).

DON'T LET PEOPLE SAY BU.....TS!!

Are you tired of people who talk talk and talk with no meaning, just to appear important? Now it is the time to finish with people whose wants lose your time and thinking.

Being clear is the new horizon, eliminating wastes and keep what is really important.

A project starts with someone who decides which are the actor of the project. The role of a great Engineer/Project Manager is to choose the right people for the right goal.

Leave apart your stakeholder for a moment. Did you find the right team? Yes, every while talks with them to introduce them in your project. Try to understand the level of belonging they have with your ideas and persuade them.



Now it is time to talk with your stakeholder. Being clear lift up you from time wasted. Meeting people who go against you is a classic.

There is always one. But, when your idea is so strong and your team has been prepared, and they can support you, this opposer, after useless ideas and bu.....its will understand your reason and your project will be smooth !!!!

ARE YOU ENOUGH OPEN MINDED??

I come from a small city and I tried and felt different kinds of thoughts. Observing most of the people you can recognize that most of them believe to be Open minded but in reality, they are really not.

How can understand if you are one of them or not? Before going ahead I would like to explain why to be open-minded is important.

Firstly, ask you a question: when a person grows up? Rise great standards? When his mind is filled with new ideas, new changes, new challenges.




For example:

Would you be enough open-minded about seeing if we could work to achieve that amount of money??"  

Look at this question, in this question you can understand that being open-minded means embrace new ideas, new people and new behaviours.

People that hate other ideas, that doesn't understand other and doesn't listen other, preclude the possibilities to get new worlds.

THE IMPORTANCE OF A RIGHT COORDINATION!! FRANGAR, NON FLECTAR!!

During your workday, lots of people are good to make great things, are good to have great ideas and are good to not coordinate to reach the goal.

What I would say is, as far as I remember, I met people and teams with great hard skills but, having a wrong coordination might mean not achieve the success. What are the right skills for a coordinator??

1) Staying with people and understand them.
2) Having a great organizational mind. You have to be a programmer. You have to write every small goal to achieve the big one.
3) Having the right to motivate people. This skill, not everyone has it, and it is not easy because sometimes means to get light up a great personality of other people instead of yours.
4) Having an optimistic vision.
5) Helping people.
6) Energize people with new ideas.
7) Know before others. Information is so important to understand the other moves. Pay always attention to the other people.
